Anthony J. Terlato
Anthony J. TerlatoInnovative, visionary and always true to his belief that "quality is a way of life," Anthony Terlato has earned acclaim as one of the wine industry's most important leaders.

Chairman of Terlato Wine Group and Terlato Wines International, Terlato's wine journey began half a century ago, at his father's Chicago liquor store. Constantly learning and unafraid of risk, he transitioned seamlessly from retailer to distributor, then importer and then marketer. His triumph with Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio is legendary, but dozens of brands owe their success to his efforts.

In 1996, Terlato became a wine producer with the purchase of Rutherford Hill Winery. Here, his passion for quality – confirmed by his willingness to invest in the best personnel, vineyards and equipment – has had a direct and profound impact. Terlato says, “I want to be remembered as a great winemaker,” and true to this ambition, the wines of Rutherford Hill, Chimney Rock, Alderbrook, Terlato Vineyards and Sanford are world-class.

For his work, Anthony J. Terlato has received the highest recognition from industry peers, including Man of the Year from Wine Enthusiast and the Distinguished Service Award from Wine Spectator. In 2006, Terlato received the Horatio Alger Award, which honors achievement in overcoming adversity and humble beginnings.

Michel Chapoutier
Outspoken, flamboyant, brilliant, daring … these are among the words often used to describe Michel Chapoutier. Without question, he is one of the world's greatest winemakers, and one of the wine world's most fascinating personalities.

Michel is widely known as an innovative, seventh-generation winemaker whose unique and meticulous methods of cultivation have become an authentic philosophy for the Maison M. Chapoutier. As a young winemaker, Michel’s allegiance to the soil and reverence for terroir startled observers. He rejected chemicals, worked according to the lunar calendar, embraced biodynamic techniques, turned to indigenous yeasts, cast off of press wine – he did everything and anything to encourage the voice of the vineyard to speak loudly in his wines.

Chapoutier’s techniques require rigorous management and close attention. His dedication to traditional winemaking methods gives his wines the unmatchable flavors, aromas and excellence they possess. The results speak for themselves. In 2003 alone, Maison M. Chapoutier's wines garnered no less than 88 ratings of 90+ points as well as broad acclaim from the most widely regarded publications, including The Wine Advocate, WineSpectator, International Wine Cellar, Wine & Spirits, and Wine Enthusiast. In a three-year period, Robert Parker awarded no fewer than five of Michel Chapoutier's wines perfect 100 point scores.
